The Environmental Club at Wilbur Cross High School in New Haven, Connecticut, is a dedicated group of high school students united by a passion for our planet. Each year, we come together to tackle environmental issues, promote sustainability, and raise awareness about the importance of protecting our natural resources. Through various and initiatives, we strive to make a positive impact in our community and inspire others to join us in our mission for a greener future. Together, we believe that every small action can lead to significant change for our Earth.
Our Initiatives

1
Composting Initiative
The composting initiative at our local high school, spearheaded by our club, aims to promote sustainability and reduce waste within our campus. Through this initiative, we have implemented a system to collect all uneaten food from school lunches for composting purposes. By diverting this organic waste from landfills, we can create nutrient-rich compost that can be used to enrich the soil in our school garden or donated to local community gardens.
3
Education Initiative
The Wilbur Cross Environmental Club is leading an education movement within our school to raise awareness about the significance of composting and reducing waste that ends up in landfills. Our goal is to educate the student body at Wilbur Cross High School about the environmental impact of our waste disposal practices and empower them to make sustainable choices.
